Rapid growth of Qatar brings a need to automate the country’s supply chain and procurement processes
24 March 2006
The formation of the Qatar operation of one of the world’s fastest growing e-commerce business to business exchange companies was announced at a press conference today. A new JV company, EOS Qatar has been created to meet the growing demand for the management of procurement processes within Qatar’s corporate world.
EOS already owns the world’s largest Oil and Gas industry exchange which allows members to trade electronically without changing their business processes.
The larger EOS members can opt for a direct link into the EOS exchange,
without the need for any changes to their internal ERP/financial system.
Small and medium sized organisations using nothing more than a standard
web browser.
With a board of shareholders, which includes a consortium of leading
Qatar businessmen led by His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulla Jabor
Al Thani, the other participants are EOS’s Middle East regional company
EOS MENA. EOS Qatar is aiming to facilitate the rapid growth of business
in Qatar and help local organisations evolve on an international scale.
His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulla Jabor Al Thani said, “Qatar is
one of the region’s fastest growing economies, and is forecast to become
one of the world’s largest Natural Gas producers. This growth needs to
be managed carefully and if we are to move into the international
business arena, local corporations must identify ways to manage their
internal and external processes in a timely and cost effective manner. I
am proud that myself and my fellow investors are involved in assisting
in this vital national infrastructure project”
EOS Technologies Inc. is a British company, which in only three years,
has become a global organisation with offices in India, Oman, the UAE,
Africa and Europe, EOS currently provides online access to business
communities in every industry sector including energy, healthcare and
construction. EOS Technologies has already supported numerous corporate
transitions into the e-procurement environment throughout the Middle
East region.
Alan Livingston, EOS CEO
continued “With already over 8,000 members in the Middle East alone, and
projecting over 20,000 by the end of 2006, Qatar is a key country for
us.
The success of the EOS Exchange is largely down to the ease of use, and
the transparency of the pricing structure; there are no sign-ups fees,
and companies only pay for what they use, which allows organisations to
venture into the world of e-commerce at their desired rate.
EOS is currently growing at a far faster rate than its competitors. EOS
Qatar can now offer Qatari companies a simple, easy to use e-procurement
system that will open doors to international trade, whether they’re
looking to buy or sell, I believe through our exchange Qatar’s public
and private sectors will help Qatar to become one of the most e-enabled
countries in the region ”.
