EOS Qatar, who recently announced a new Digital Exchange for Qatar’s business community has announced their second key industry sector to utilize the exchange as the Construction community. Construction here is currently undergoing an unprecedented growth boom, and it is believed the use of the EOS exchange will help improve effectiveness and cost reductions for the entire community, from the largest construction companies to the smallest suppliers, whilst handling annually in excess of US$ 2 Billion of procurement spend.

Three top tier contracting companies in Qatar ARCON, CONTRACO and China State Construction Engineering Corporation have joined EOS Qatar Digital Document Exchange with many more coming on board shortly. "We are very happy to have started our construction DDE with companies of such high calibre" said Giuseppe Conti, Chief Executive Officer of EOS Qatar. "Our DDE will allow them to make a smooth transition to electronic procurement and the supply chain managers will be able to enjoy the benefits from day one. The current estimate is that once fully enabled over 1,000,000 documents will move through the DDE, second only to the Oil and gas industry (currently estimated at 2,500,000 documents per year). We are growing at a very fast rate and we expect to start several more hubs in other major industry sectors in the next few months, including Hospitality and Healthcare".

The ever changing skyline along Doha's downtown is a witness to the construction boom throughout Qatar in recent years. Tourism, liberal trade policies, excellent educational facilities and surging gas revenues are the key dynamics stimulating both public and private sector investment in construction projects. The country's successful hosting of the 2006 Asian Games and the encouraging bid to host the biggest sporting event of the world - 2016 Olympics has propelled Qatar into one of the most attractive investment destination”.

EOS Technologies has a strong presence in the Middle East and considers Qatar to be a key market for the company. Conti continued “EOS is one of the world’s fastest growing e-Commerce companies. The EOS Document Delivery Exchange (DDE) offers Qatari companies a simple, easy to use e-Procurement system that will open doors to international trade, whether they’re looking to buy or sell. I believe through our exchange serving both public and private sectors, Qatar will become one of the most e-enabled countries in the region.”
.

EOS Qatar, part of the EOS Technologies group, is a new joint venture company, between EOS MENA (of which Oman’s Zubair Corporation is a major shareholder) and a consortium of leading Qatar businessmen led by His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulla Jabor Al Thani. The JV has been created to meet the growing demand for the management of procurement processes within Qatar’s corporate world.
